Tim Davis Design Inc is honoured to have assisted many young designers launch their careers over the years, many of who have gone on to great things. The current key team members are as shown below

Tim Davis Design Inc is a design practice based in Canada’s capital city, Ottawa. The practice is involved in design for a wide variety of project types including small architecture, building renovations, interiors, millwork, furniture and gardens, for both commercial and residential projects. The practice was founded in 1995 by Tim Davis who is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland.

In addition to many private clients, Tim Davis Design Inc has been involved in projects for many well known Canadian institutions and businesses including the Parliament of Canada (through its work with PCL and PCL/ED), the National Gallery of Canada, the Chateau Laurier Hotel, Rideau Centre, TD Place, TD Canada Trust, Rogers TV and The Ottawa Hospital. The practice has a substantial portfolio of work for Not for Profit organizations including the YMCA-YWCA National Capital Region, Vanier Community Centre, The Elizabeth Fry Society and Bronson Centre.

Through involvement in many projects the practice has developed special expertise in the areas of gallery and museum design work and architectural millwork. Tim Davis Design Inc has been involved in over 100 projects to date at the National Gallery of Canada and has also undertaken projects for the Canadian Science and Technology Museum, the Canadian Museum of Civilization, the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Musée d’Art Contemporain de Montréal and the Museum of Prime Minister Jean Chrétien. Claude Lavoie, who is a senior consultant to the practice, is widely recognized as a leading expert in the field of architectural millwork.

In addition to work in Ottawa, Tim Davis Design has undertaken projects in various locations across Canada, a number of states in the USA and various European locations in England, Ireland, France, and Malta. Other projects have been undertaken in South Africa and Georgia in the former Soviet Union. Please refer to the PROJECT LOCATIONS page for details.

Principal
Tim Davis founded the practice in Ottawa, Canada in 1995. Originally from England, where he trained with Backhouse Design Consultants in Liverpool, Tim is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland and the Institution of Structural Engineers. He has forty years of design and construction industry experience. He has taught at both universities in Liverpool and on the Interior Design program at Algonquin College, Ottawa. Tim is a former board member of the Ottawa School of Art and is a member of the advisory committee to the Interior Design degree program at Algonquin College.

Rick Pella Senior Consultant

Rick Pella is a former Senior Project Manager with Agriculture Canada. Rick has considerable experience with government based projects and protocols and has special expertise in the area of rehabilitation of heritage buildings and special use spaces. Originally involved with the practice as a client, since leaving Agriculture Canada Rick has acted as a senior consultant to the practice. He is involved in all aspects of the site work associated with projects including field measurement during the design phases and quality control during construction. Rick also administers various aspects of the contract management during construction.

Claude Lavoie Senior Consultant

From 1979-2013 Claude Lavoie was the owner of Gaston Lavoie Cabinet Shop Ltd, an architectural millwork manufacturing company established in 1946 by Claude’s father Gaston Lavoie.
Claude’s strength lies in his expertise in manufacturing and finishing techniques, providing solutions to achieve complex projects. High profile buildings in the National Capital Region which have benefited from Claude’s particular expertise include the War Museum, the Aviation Museum, several National Security buildings, Shaw Centre, various hospitals, Carleton and Ottawa Universities, and over 200 learning institutions. Claude is able to provide expert witness services for dispute resolution.
