Tim Davis trained with Edmund Kirby Architects and Backhouse Design Consultants in Liverpool prior to emigrating to Canada in 1994. Polar opposite practices, one over 100 years old at the time with large projects for establishments such as the Catholic Church, the other a young vibrant practice with links to Liverpool’s Merseybeat scene and the Beatles, this training gave Tim an early wide exposure to many different types of architectural projects. After emigrating to Canada in 1994, Tim worked briefly with Murray and Murray prior to establishing his own practice in 1995. Tim has travelled extensively in Europe and Asia, particularly Japan, providing him with an international viewpoint which informs the work of the practice

CLIENT ADVISOR AND DESIGN WORK
The practice is honoured to be retained by Bronson Centre on an ongoing basis as both designers for numerous interior improvements including washroom upgrades, auditorium door upgrades, potential lobby refurbishments, entrance refurbishments, community kitchens etc and also as advisors on major works and grant proposals including significant exterior masonry repair, window replacements and green building initiatives.

YMCA, 180 ARGYLE, OTTAWA
HORIZONTAL PIPING REPLACEMENT
Contract administration and organization of associated general contracting work for the large value horizontal piping replacement in the YMCA’s 13 tower floors at 180 Argyle, Ottawa. The work was undertaken and designed by Dilfo Mechanical with assistance from Goodkey Weedmark & Associates Limited.

PORCH RECONSTRUCTION,
ABBOTSFORD HOUSE, GLEBE CENTRE, OTTAWA
Redesign and reconstruction of the porch on Abbotsford House which forms part of the Glebe Centre long term care facility. The porch has had many forms during the life of the house, the basis of the design was the most recent form. The project required heritage approval from the City of Ottawa and was the recipient of a Glebe Heritage Restoration Award

Building design consultancy to PCL/ED’s in-house design team and full interior design services including furniture selection, millwork and wayfinding design for the 19,000 sq ft main site office on Parliament Hill. The building will be moved part way through the Centre Block refurbishment, currently it is located directly in front of Centre Block. In conjunction with Stewart + Tsai Architects. Third party design coordination services to PCL for the refurbishment of the Canadian Parliament West Block. The practice assisted PCL in the interpretation of the contract drawings and provided design development and detailing in some areas. Design Architects for the project were AFGM. TD PLACE “SUBARU LOG CABIN”,
UPPER AND LOWER VIP DECKS
7000 sq ft of decks at the West goal end, for VIP access on game days and private rentals. The lower deck created in 2016 used composite decking, the upper level created in 2018 uses moulded concrete blocks. Some photos courtesy of the client.

REFURBISHMENT OF BRIMLEY’S BUILDING, LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND
Complete refurbishment of a severely derelict building consisting of two brick warehouses and terracotta clad offices around an atrium. Tim Davis acted as the liaison person between contractor and architect during the construction for Backhouse Design Consultants. The building was originally designed by Edmund Kirby and completed in 1890.
